Patch: 0.5.4b · updated 2026-07-09
Atziri, the Red Queen Boss Guide
Phase Breakdown
- Phase 1: Phase 1 (Atziri, the Red Queen)TriggerFight startMechanicMelee attacks that randomly convert 40% of physical damage to Fire or Lightning, plus Blood Spear (a falling spear that explodes into a 50-projectile nova applying Corrupted Blood and Maim), Spinning Flame Wall (a circling spear swing that leaves a burning ring), and Flameblast (a channeled attack that detonates a large marked zone).CounterWatch the horns on her headdress, they light up to telegraph whether her next attack leans fire or lightning. Cap Fire resistance at 75% first since most of her damage across both phases is fire-based.
- Phase 2: Phase 2 (Atziri, the Fell Serpent)TriggerBelow 10% health in Phase 1MechanicShe escapes through a mirror portal to a new arena and transforms at full health into a more mobile, aggressive serpent form. Her Phase 1 attacks return in empowered versions (Spinning Flame Wall now covers the whole outer arena in lingering fire, forcing close-quarters play), plus new attacks: Blood Spear Barrage (four consecutive spears), Vaal Storm Call (rows of exploding lightning runes with a narrow safe line down the center), and a Teleport Slam.CounterFight the empowered Flame Wall version in close quarters rather than trying to kite around the outer ring, since that whole area becomes lingering ignited ground. Track the Storm Call's center safe line as your default fallback position.
- Phase 3: Spreading CorruptionTriggerAround 20% health in Phase 2MechanicShe coils into a ball as a lethal, expanding red corruption zone spreads from her toward the arena edges.CounterEither burst her down immediately from a safe distance, or retreat to the small safe zone that exists at the arena's far edge during this attack.
Most Common Deaths
- Standing in the empowered Phase 2 Flame Wall's lingering ignited ground instead of committing to close-quarters positioning
- Getting caught by the Spreading Corruption zone without a burst-down plan or knowledge of the safe zone location
- Attempting the fight without capped Fire resistance, given how much of her kit across both phases is fire damage
Full Fight Guide
Full Fight Guide
Atziri, the Red Queen is the pinnacle boss of Atziri’s Temple (the Fate of the Vaal mechanic). Reaching her requires building the Temple up to at least Area Level 75, defeating Xipocado, the Royal Architect (who spawns on a random tile in your layout), and using his console to place the Royal Access Chamber. Path your temple layout to connect to that chamber, and Atziri’s door unlocks.
There’s no mid-fight resurrection mechanic here, if you fail, your entire path and unlocked rooms reset and you need to rebuild the route from scratch. Because of this, it’s worth maximizing your level, gear, and Ascendancy points before attempting her rather than rushing in underprepared.
Note on difficulty
Patch 0.5.4 lowered pinnacle boss resistances across the board, including Atziri’s, alongside targeted nerfs to a few other pinnacle encounters. If you bounced off this fight in an earlier patch, it’s meaningfully more farmable now.
Notable Drops
- Atziri's Medallion, which unlocks Atziri's Vault and six Royal Troves, the source of Atziri's Rule staff, the Architect's Orb, and (as of 0.5.4) the new Orb of Sacrifice currency
- Other notable uniques from her pool include the Drillneck quiver, Atziri's Contempt spear, Atziri's Step boots, and Sacrificial Regalia
