Expedition League Mechanic Guide
Core loop
Using a Logbook unveils a section of ocean southeast of your Atlas, filled with islands to sail between. On each island, you place explosives to dig up buried Kalguuran ruins (Remnants), then fight off waves of monsters that spawn to defend them. Successfully clearing a Remnant rewards Verisium, runic alloys, and runes, the core currency of the Runeforging system, plus a chance at raw Divine Orbs.
Standard vs. Grand Expedition
- Standard Expedition is the low-investment entry point, a reliable way to print Divine Orbs even on white maps with minimal Atlas tree commitment.
- Grand Expedition (the direct successor to the old “Logbook” encounters) is the high-ceiling version, requiring real Atlas tree investment but scaling much further, Remnant count now scales with your Waystone tier, maxing out at Tier 15+.
Faction Leaders
Four Faction Leaders, Olroth, Medved, Vorana, and Uhtred, can be found and fought across the various islands you discover, each tied to their own rewards.
Practical tips
- If you’re not finding Logbooks naturally, a specific boss now guarantees one on defeat, you can no longer get fully locked out of the mechanic through bad luck.
- The “Feeling Lucky?” Atlas node unlocks Liquid Verisium from Farrow, letting you reroll a Remnant’s rune options instead of accepting whatever it reveals by default, useful if you’re hunting a specific rune type rather than taking whatever comes up.
- Grand Expedition chest rewards were substantially reworked in 0.5.3, expect currency, unique items, and Waystones rather than the basic gear drops from earlier patches.
